Big Changes coming to the Devou Overlook!

We have some news to share with you! Devou Properties is proud to announce that the Devou Overlook will soon undergo some amazing transformations thanks to the incredible generosity of Drees Homes.

We are thrilled to unveil the plans for the Devou Overlook updates. An accessible table area and seat walls will be added adjacent to the existing parking and replace the scattered picnic tables. Landscaping will further enhance and complement the surrounding natural beauty. Meanwhile, the overlook area will also undergo an upgrade. These improvements will greatly enhance the view, which is already known for its awe-inspiring beauty. With these changes, the Devou Overlook will continue to be an iconic destination for locals and visitors alike.

If you are considering booking Drees Pavilion or may be planning on photos at Devou Overlook, we are sensitive to these plans. We do not currently have a formal timeline for this project. While the improvements will not impact Drees Pavilion or our patio & gazebo area directly, we understand this could be a concern. All assurances will be made to avoid any impact on your dream day. Please contact our office with any questions you have about this project.

We can’t wait for you to see the results. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to experience the Devou Overlook like never before!

Think About Thursdays!

Thinking about a 2024 wedding? Find a date to remember by thinking about a Thursday!

If you dream of a lavish wedding but find the price tags a bit too steep, consider having your special day on a Thursday. You’ll still receive the same exceptional service as you would on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday wedding, but at a more affordable price.

While a Thursday wedding may not be suitable for everyone, there are several factors to consider before making this decision.

One major advantage is the money you’ll save on the wedding reception venue. Additionally, you’ll likely be able to find savings on other vendors such as photographers, DJs, and florists. Have you had your eye on a photographer who is usually booked years in advance? They may have your Thursday wedding date available.

For those who prefer spontaneity over meticulous planning, having a Thursday wedding offers the benefit of having the reception venue and vendors available even if your wedding is only a few months away. This is ideal for couples who want a full wedding celebration without a lengthy engagement.

Freshen up your Nest!

Everyone has been at home staring at the same walls for months, maybe even using the dining room as an office or the kitchen as a classroom.

Here are some tips from Jill Neverovich of DJN Design Services, the designer behind the recent Drees Pavilion make-over, to freshen up your nest!!

It’s no question we are all at home more than ever before – with that we have come to enjoy so many things about our home and also may see spaces that we want to liven up.

If you’re not looking to do a whole home makeover but just want to add some interest to a space that you are using more think about these two items:

Lighting and Paint.

Lighting – perhaps you find yourself in a space that was once designated as the dining room but now functions as a home office or school…one of the biggest concerns and areas of frustration can be lighting for spaces that are serving new tasks or trying to serve multiple tasks.

Invest in the lighting that makes the space work for what you need it to do now. It doesn’t have to involve hiring an electrician and hardwiring new fixtures. There are so many great new wall sconce and task lighting options that have plug-in features that can easily be moved later.

In addition, if you just want to add a little interest or drama to a piece of artwork or accent wall there are also multiple options for plug in art lights and wall accent lighting as well.

We have all heard it so many times we may not want to ever hear it again; but paint is always a go to tool for adding interest and updating a space; without breaking the bank. My suggestion is to think outside the box when it comes to paint – think stripes – painting on the diagonal – color blocking – adding a border – use multiple colors. You can interject black or white to an existing palette to add interest without introducing another color. There are multiple ways to use paint if you take the time to do a little searching you may become inspired!
